Static exercise really makes my heart pound! I recorded my heartbeat and took my blood pressure while doing a wall sit to see just how hard my heart was working. I don’t think it was a very accurate test, though: the excitement of recording made my heart pound even more, and the feeling of my thrumming heart only got me more excited in turn…

Someone should write a very practical and down-to-earth story about a dragonriding culture and how they deal with the potential for whiplash and related injuries. I just saw a gifset from a certain realistic dragon show, and watching those tiny CG riders bobbing around up there makes me concerned for the sake of their spines.
Do the saddles have backs and headrests? Does part of training involve teaching the dragon to hold its back unnaturally steady? Is there a handy magic spell to counteract inertia/gravity? Or are a number of riders lost each year to snapped necks, along with the ones who pass out from G-forces and are forbidden from flying?

ive developed a new ability
the ability is "abrupt, intense, sourceless stomach pain bad enough to cause a vasovagal syncope even though i was already sitting down"
even better i learned to do it while i was at a restaurant with my in-laws!
#everyone was very nice to me about it#gf's mom bathed my neck in a cold compress and called us an Uber so i wouldn't have to walk the ten minutes home#but like. christ#i have a long list of syncope causes all of which except cardio exercise are one offs#i've collapsed from long walk on no food Exactly and Only Once. from blood draw Exactly and Only Once. etc#some consistency at least. please#give me a thing to avoid.#box opener#the restaurant called an ambulance and the emts were like ''well.... your blood pressure looks almost unbelievably normal.''#so i just got back out of the ambulance and went back inside.

Most important thing i learned this year is that there are different kinds of exercises that do different things to your body and they're not interchangeable.
Everyone who bleats about doing HIIT for 20 minutes so you "don't have to" do 40 minutes of cardio should be shot and yes, doctors+Internet article writers go front and center
#My blood pressure is in the not-concerning zone for the first time since i noticed I'm usually in the concerning zone#So years i guess#Specifically the issue is a lot of the 'fun' exercises ppl rec are anaerobic which is fine if you're okay with burning out#unfortunately there's no alternative to long and slow aerobic work

As a follow-up to my last wall sit video, I decided to record my heartbeat and measure my blood pressure while I did a wall sit for as long as I could. My legs got pretty shaky by the end, and the wall sit really made my heart start slamming! The lighting isn’t great, but my heartbeat is visible at apex throughout the video.

Medical fat phobia will really just have you on blood pressure meds you don’t need to be on huh
#to clarify#I had a doctor for my hormones that would always talk about my weight like more than my general physician#and would weigh me tell me to exercise more THEN ask me how much I exercise#then I’d tell her and she’d be like oh that’s actually fine#and so she’d always make me nervous and she got a couple high bp readings#but my blood pressure was normal at every other doctor#checked with my gp today and my bp was normal and said I should not be on meds lmaooo#personal
